2'12 2XU Hervey
Bay Triathlon
and
Hervey
Bay MultiSports Festival
20th-
22nd April 2012
3 Days, 4 Events
- back with more than ever before!

That's right the Hervey Bay Triathlon has now been expanded
into a Multisports Festival spanning 3 days and 4 events!
Expanding from the single event to the Hervey Bay
Multisports Festival. The feature is still the 2XU Hervey Bay Triathlon (an
Olympic Distance Tri) that featuring the same 1500m calm bay swim, 2 * 20k fully
closed loops on the bike and a shady near flat run beachside out & back 10k run.
Total prize pool is up to just over $32,000 with $3,000 packages for first male
& female paying down to fifth and the weekend prize pool over is over $35,000
including a $6,000 bike package of a Fuji D6 2.0 plus extras. 2XU are back as
our title sponsor and last year’s winners Courtney Atkinson & Felicity Abram
are keen to return.
Last season saw 300 individuals and 50 teams (from first
timer's to Olympians) enjoy a safe, fair, and fun triathlon experience. Over
splendid course that everyone loved and with the added excitement of two laps on
the bike (yes including twice up that hill). On Sunday the 22nd of April it will
all be on again, strict field limits of 600 individuals (plus 150 teams, and 100
in the GoKids events) will ensure that the atmosphere stays friendly and
transition area space second to none.
This year there will be 4 times the fun with extra events:
-
Ocean Swims
- the Hervey Bay Surf Lifesaving Club's 14th annual Pier to Pub ocean swim
classic (3.4 or 1.6km),
-
Kids
triathlons - the Bmee GoKids events for 7-10 years & 11-14 years
-
Even a
Friday night "undie run" - a one mile sprint for charity from the Torquay
Jetty to the Scarness Jetty.
Course maps for all events along with event information are
available from the website.
From the Friday night fun run through the Sports Expo all
weekend finally the Sunday night after party at BaysWater (and a lazy day down
the beach on the Monday) to recover it will be another weekend to remember.
Continuing in '12 is a teams matching service - if you don't
know anyone with whom you can form a team, don't worry, you can now enter a
single leg and we will match you up with the some people from a similar
demographic to for a team - details online.
Online entry is now available for all events at

Nick and
Dawn presenting the Gatton people with a $1500 cheque to help with their flood
relief. Nick says the devastation is still VERY evident and as we have
probably all forgotten about it, they are still feeling the effects and still
have no homes.
Oh & apparently Nick did a 2.22 time in the grunt in other
related news :-) Well done Nick. Dawn took out 2nd place in her age group.
